Dedicated pastor Darren Cowdrey currently serves at California Pacific Conference fo the United Methodist Church in Pasadena, California. He and his wife have currently taken on the ministry of Aldersgate Retreat Center, a 42 bed facility in Pacific Palisades, Ca. Owned by the United Methodist Church, the facility hosts different non-profit groups for different retreats and conferences for spiritual health, social justice, and other types of ministry.
Prior to joining CPC, Mr. Cowdrey served as a pastor at several other California-based churches. He accepted his current role from the position of pastor at the Palisades United Methodist Church. He was also previously pastor at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church and associate pastor at Shepherd of the Hills UMC. In these roles, he was responsible for preaching to congregations of up to 400 and maintaining personal relationships with potential members and other church staff.
In preparation for his career, Darren Cowdrey earned both a bachelor’s degree in English from UC Irvine and a master’s degree in theology/divinity from the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley. He also earned designation as a United Methodist Pastor. This certification requires a master’s degree in divinity and that applicants undergo a three-year process, which consists of submitting papers to the United Methodist church and completing interviews with the organization.
